Goah!

Image
Ah I am back. Its been some time. In between have been to Goa, got horribly busy at work, still have pending work and rushed a friend to hospital at 3 early morning. Much water wouldn't you say? Lets start with the Goa journey. Something about the place is so "not part of your everyday humdrum life." Various forms of the human species tend to surface there. First, there is the newly married couples with chuda et al adorning their hands. I have always wondered how one can honeymoon in Goa, I feel its more a party place than a honeymoon place but then again its my pov! Even stranger are the groups of people honeymooning together! Like really! So the couple would have eyes for each other and the occasional glance thrown at the bikini clad foreigners when they think no one is looking. They sit at the beach through the day and go partying into the night at your local favourite Mambos or Titos. On an aside from the list, I have never understood the draw that ei...

Democracy

Someone once said, democracy is not utopia but its the best we have! Reading about the ME upheaval and another article in the Crest about the West's sudden disappearance from public support for the people of Egypt throws up some interesting questions. Let's take the current situation. ME is going nuts (One can say so is the rest of the world but thats another story). You name the country and someone in there is gearing up to protest against the current reigning monarch/despot/crazy fucker/ruler/dictator/leader depending on your point of view. The medium of organising protests seems to be FB and Twitter (and they need ads to stay alive? they are changing worlds!). But in all the mayhem and noise, the silent democratic torch bearers are causing even more noise. Why is that India (the world's biggest democracy), the US (the Commissioner of Police of democracy), arbitrary once upon a time important but now holding on to the skirt tails of the U...

Marriage

So what is it about marriage that brings about the cheeriest yoohoos and the scariest trepidations at the same time? Vivek is getting married today. Oh make that has got married today. And between his messages about oh no can I go drinking with my friends today and my twisted humor replies about "abhi bhi time hai bhaag jaa" I kept wondering about this. There was the customary talk in the bay and the almost mandatory question i get about "so when?" "Next is you!!" Generally accompanied by gleeful laughs. So what is it about marriage that causes people to have these reactions. My take - the men are so crushed and subdued, they cant take seeing a single, free, happy man. The women ofcourse cant bear to see a man who has still not been relieved of his ability to wear deer skin and hunt for his food! :P Life must have been simpler I guess, wake up, shit, hunt food, eat hunted food, dig nose, sleep, dig nose, eat leftover food, sleep and then the cycle take...

And another one gets to see the light

Funny thing, its been quite a few years since I wrote a blog. Had started, moved from one free bloggy website to another and yet again before finally calling it quits. A year ago Neha had started writing one, had felt a bit motivated but never well enough to start writing one. Then today, Vidya was taking tips on starting one and I thought, what the fuck, if I can give tips, I bloody well write one too!
