Porridge!


Can I say the words ‘I want’ without immediately saying ‘in the broader interest’? Man things that to be selfish is to be terrible. I think that its terrible that man has such a low opinion of himself, has so little self respect that he thinks that being selfish entails that he lie, cheat, deceive, murder, grovel and beg. I think most men are the most selfless creatures. They cheat, grovel, beg deceive and do not care how much it hurts the I in them.

There is this story of a lady suffering from an ailment for too long. When a drug called Prozac was invented, it freed millions. Excited, she traced the inventor and asked him how does it feel knowing you had helped millions. Barry molloy said, "I don’t know, I am amazingly happy at that fact that I could do it, it was a new high to achieve it. Does that make his contribution worthless? Because he did not care about the masses he healed just that he had created something so amazing that he was proud to have been able to create it.

The worst line is by Marx - from each as per his ability, to each as per his need.

It assumes all people are inherently equal but all people are not equal. Some are intelligent, some less some more capable.

Have u ever seen a bowl of porridge? There are some thick strands, some lean, some broken and some long but all that registers is this brown gelatanious mass of slush. Except of course the black particles that weren’t supposed to be there in the first place but got in anyway.

People are not porridge and I definitely dont want to be porridge.

It is all about accepting differences - spoiler alert

I have never reviewed a movie, much less a series. In fact, there were a lot of firsts with this series, Made in Heaven. It is the first Indian web series, I have watched It is the first series, I have binge watched It is the first series, I have rewatched (all 9 episodes, no less) And now it shall be the first series I write about Quite a hard hitting series and so tastefully done! When you include ostentatious weddings, systemic misogyny, anti LGBT rhetoric, myopic views, current political climate, the complete lack of correlation between being educated and belief in superstition and the intersection of class with progress, you have a huge canvas to work on. Winning doesn't mean it is right

SO the results are out. The 2019 general elections to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha that took place over a month culminated in this day - May 23rd 2019. The BJP (forming the NDA along with its allies), won a landslide victory. A party with its narrative steeped in virulent nationalism, focusing on an India which is a far cry from the ideals on which the nation was born. A country which was aptly described by Shashi Tharoor in his book, The Great Indian Novel as a thali where different items are not mashed up but come together as a meal rather than a porridge which is a mish mash of everything and individuality doesn't stand out - that is the India we know of and we strive to cherish.
