At some point of time

I have more or less decided. Now onto the actual tactical details. Don't know at what point of time the thought solidified. Maybe days of nightly calls, maybe the realisation that there will be no one left. Maybe the final mail after slogging on that stupid deck, maybe the lack of support, maybe the bones, maybe others' bones, maybe having to justify when you don't believe in it, maybe the feeling of saturation, maybe it's just wanting out, maybe the utter shallowness of the man, maybe the deviousness, maybe the politics, maybe the helplessness, or maybe ... Just maybe ... A combination Of all the above. A small fear remains about the unknown. But fear is good or so says some stupid aerated drnk commercial.

And then there was disappointment

A preview of the bones to come! The saying every dog has its day didn't come true as I am still waiting to wag my tail. Worse was giving people bones which even a street dog wouldn't lick. Ah how to face them tomorrow? Ask them to find new meat?

Blogging from mObile

Is a painful task! As you can see from the story heading, spellings get badly fucked! All right the week will start, time to call it a night.

Follow up to "When are you getting married"

I remember a long time ago a friend of mine had told me, "Marriage is like swimming in the sea. You plunge into the sea and then fight against the currents." Well, I am not interested in swimming or fighting currents, I would rather laze on the beach with a beer! It's funny how I don't have a single example of a really great marriage. Everything seems to be about compromises. You do not do this, this and that because you want to make your spouse happy. In all this, where does the "you" go? Most times people seem to see in their potential partner someone who they can mould to fit what, in their minds, is the ideal spouse. SO you think, he/she does these things now but will stop once we are married. And therein lies the problem. You cannot change a person. You would want to get married to the person as he or she is. The minute you want to try and change there comes about a barrier. True, in the early days of courtship or nuptial you would be willing to not...

When are you getting married?

Before I start, in the course of this post, I have made references to numerous people, all of who are real and not imaginary. Their names have been changed to protect their privacy. But in case they do stumble across this post and identify themselves or others, rest assured no one else can and I am not giving out names. Let it be as random musings! That is a question I face atleast 4 times a week. Yesterday was special, I was asked that by 2 different people on the same day! It is almost like there is something out of the natural order if you are not married. Let me count, there is the customary query that comes from Ratbert who comes with me every morning. That's her answer to all ills of life like an arguing cook and maid in the morning, having to call the ironing fellow to iron clothes (yes, yes I dont iron my own clothes and have fallen for the bourgeois trap of having a help for everything). Coming from a woman it is a strange comment, but I pass it off with the custo...

Human nature and the Ugly Indian

So India won against Australia in a World Cup cricket match yesterday! Suddenly patriotic fervor has been reignited in the country and the very same people who were criticizing and writing off the team till now are bursting forth with national pride!  Abusing Ponting and his men on the field seems to be thing to do. Watch FB and Twitter and you would think they had previously burnt the national flag and we had vanquished that event by a solitary win at cricket match!  Things will become worse as India plays Pakistan on Wednesday. After all, they are the real enemy! Anyway, I decided to do a little social experiment. I bad mouthed cricket on FB. The effect as expected was hilarious. Comments galore, some even questioning my purported national pride and honor and questioning my allegiance to India! Everytime, things died down a little, I put in one more comment only to incite more reactions! When I was a kid, I had a toy. I think it was ...

Part 2 - The religion wars!

Image
Come to think of it - almost all the major religions in the world have had issues with one another and it has all been to do with who wants to have control! And there have been wars inter and intra religions from time immemorial! And it has still NOT ended. The more people each of these religions can draw to themselves, the more power they can hold and the greater their clout! So at the end of the day, thats what it is all about. Increase followers, increase clout have a greater say in the way the world is run! Not one religion says live the way you want to, its all about don't do this, don't do that, do this, do that and you will attain eternal nirvana. It's like a bribe. You shalt not do this, in return you shall get this. You shalt pay me 1crore INR and in return you shall get my votes! Votes for cash to heaven for cash - its not a massive change! I get the preacher's point of view but what is the motivation behind the followers? Being sheep! Human beings as...

The belief system

Image
Saw the attached picture on the net recently. Thought it was a pretty good synopsis of my belief system. From the time I can remember, I have always been gravitating towards atheism. I do not know what it was that set me off in that path. I have a fairly religious family. Both sets of relatives (Dad's and Mom's side), are pretty devout. They go to temples, make offerings, have days on which they refuse to eat non veg/drink alcohol and make trips to distant religious places to tempt the Gods above to let the lead a happy life. In pockets there are also the usual "non your own religion haters." I can rest assured, the future of the religion is safe at least when it comes to the extended family. Now to the immediate family; And this is where I can begin to see where the roots of my belief system (or as some would say the lack of one ... more on that later) came from. Mom is fairly religious, goes to temples once in a while, makes mandatory resolutions about donating...

Pi

Found a way to archive Pi (the comic strip)! Ask for link!

And the office party!

Whats the next best thing if you are having cost cutting but still want your employees to be happy? Go for an offsite inside the city! Anyway considering thats the folks at work decided, the next best thing was to have as much fun as possible and obviously it would have to be at the expense of my colleagues. So here we are at around 5 and I am still wrapping up work. Party starts at 5, me leave work at 545! EWWW! Waltz in after getting frantic calls about my whereabouts and that of my team. There is a little do which as the boss said has to be done so as to justify the expense! On an aside, some of the shenanigans reminded me of ONGC. Once upon a time when I used to work there, the ED's daughter was getting married. Nothing great there, people generally do in life, except me that is! :P So here was EDD (ED's daughter) getting married and all the people reporting to him even the General Manager etc was there from the day before to "help". Made me puke at the...

And then there were them

Image
Right, after what seems like an eternity the week has ended and I managing to write again! In between we have had projects ending, new people in the team, Libyans getting massacred, yet another scam, budget not doing any good to me and a very boring Oscars lit up by someone swearing and then apologizing for the "fuck" word! But I had an earlier post to finish so onto that. The people I met in Goa. At all times I had not talked to them directly, I go into my shell when there are strangers and peep out once in a while to see if the coast is clear. Ofcourse you can hear very clearly in the shell. :) So first up there was Francis. He is the dude who owns the hotel (ahem ... aside needed here). Its not exactly a hotel, its more like his house (not even sprawling) where he lets out rooms on the top floor. Not that bad considering the adjectives I used. Its got nice, clean rooms, a clean bathroom (MUST), close to the sea and shack. What else would you need? A 5 star property ...
